Bachelor of Electrical Engineering Technology (Electrical Power) with Honours

Introduction to BNE programme

This program is designed to provide students with a high quality applications-oriented undergraduate education based on state-of-the-art technological equipment associated with electrical technology. This is achieved through several objectives such as facilitating the students with equipments that relevance to the latest industrial changes, equipping the students with adequate fundamental knowledge and strong skills that relates to the field and supporting the development of appropriate computer facilities. Graduates from this programme major understand, design, analyze and work effectively in industrial settings utilizing product/process control systems and electrical power systems.

Bachelor of Electronic Engineering Technology (Industrial Automation) with Honours

Introduction to BND programme

Current industries are under constant pressure to find new ways to reduce costs and improve efficiency. As a result, companies continue to implement technologies in robotics, process control, computers and factory automation, in order to enhance productivity. Industrial automation, computer-assisted manufacturing and robotics have opened new fields in the planning, installation and service of automated equipment and systems. Many industrial companies are improving their production and processing operations by incorporating changing technology. As such, this program is designed to help graduates develop adequate knowledge and good skills associated with many areas of industrial automation in order to fulfill the current industrial’s needs.

Establishment of UTHM

The university was formerly known as Pusat Latihan Staf Politeknik ( PLSP ) which was established on September 16 , 1993. The core business of PLSP then was to train and produce polytechnics academic staff to become knowledgeable and skilful in various engineering fields. The training institute was jointly administered by Universiti Teknologi Malaysia and the Ministry of Education Malaysia.
Three years later , PLSP was upgraded to Institut Teknologi Tun Hussein Onn ( ITTHO ). Dato’ Sri Mohd Najib bin Tun Abdul Razak who was then the Minister of Education made the official announcement of the new status on April 12 , 1996. This promotion was an acknowledgment of the institution's excellence in producing human resources for technical education.
On September 27 , 2000 , the institute achieved another milestone when the Malaysian government agreed to award a university-college status to the institute. This status served to recognise its contributions in the development of science and technology as well as its role in helping the nation to achieve its aspirations. With its new status , the institution was renamed as Kolej Universiti Teknologi Tun Hussein Onn ( KUiTTHO ) and the official announcement was made by Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Musa bin Mohamed , the then Minister of Education.
KUiTTHO continued to progress and produce skilful , knowledgeable and competitive graduates. Consequently , the Malaysian government , on September 20 , 2006 , agreed to award the university-college a full university status and changed its name to Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia. On February 1 , 2007 , Datuk Mustapha Mohamed , the Minister of Higher Education officially announced the change of status. Subsequently , Dato’ Seri Hishamuddin Tun Hussein Onn made the official declaration of the change of name on March 2 , 2007.

Bachelor of Electronic Engineering Technology (Communication and Computer) with Honours

Introduction BNF programme

The use of mobile telephony and the Internet continues to transform of our social and business lives. Global data networks enable us to communicate via text messages, voice or video, to access and exchange information and to transact business securely. These networks provide the links between computer systems or specialized computing devices. In order to maximize the benefits of this blending of communications and computing technologies, organizations are increasingly reliant on access to a new range of engineering development skills. Given the level of demand, this programme is designed to combine elements of electronic, software and communications engineering and associated hardware appropriate to the merging of technologies encountered in today’s ICT systems. Lecture and tutorial material is applied in practical project and laboratory work. A strong emphasis is placed on the development of application-oriented design and development skills and in-depth knowledge relevant to the needs of both high-tech ICT producers, advanced system providers and operators.

UTHM PAGOH

INTRODUCTION

Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia Pagoh Campus is strategically located in the Educational Hub Malaysia Pagoh, just off the Pagoh Interchange on the North-South Expressway, only 20 minutes from the royal town of Muar, Johor. There are three more higher educational institutions located in this educational hub; International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) Southern Campus, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) Research Centre and Pagoh Community College. The current operating faculties include the Faculty Of Applied Science and  Technology, Faculty of Engineering Technology and Centre for Diploma Studies.

Faculty of Engineering Technology (FTK) University Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM) is currently operating in Pagoh Education Hub, Johor. Pagoh Education Hub is known to be the largest public education hub area in Malaysia.

The aim of the Faculty is to conduct academic engineering technology programmes which include foundational theory and emphasize on applications of the theory. Currently, FTK is offering several academic programmes at bachelor level. The engineering technology programmes are structured to be more practical biased than the conventional science based engineering degree programme elsewhere.  The career prospect of engineering technologist covers a broad spectrum in engineering field from product development, manufacturing, construction, improvement to optimisation of its operational functions.

To implement more practical biased curriculum, students are exposed to practical-based training throughout the 4-year programme with weightage of 60% practical and 40% theory. Practical will be conducted in the form of laboratory works, workshops and industrial training. In addition, FTK students are nurtured to be dynamic, creative and ethical by instilling soft skills throughout the teaching and learning process. Students will be guided by qualified and experienced academicians that are experts and professional in their respective fields. At the end of the programme, students are expected to be dynamically competent to fulfill the ever growing needs and requirements from both community and industries
